The
club, formally known as Lincoln Modified Car Owners Club or
LMCOC, first started in early 2005, with the brainchild that
was Mark ‘Marky T’ Tweedy starting up an internet
forum for people from what was collectively known as the “cruise
scene” could come together to chat and discuss all things
modified. Along with the help of Carl ‘Stretch’
Forster, the forum began to take shape and rapidly became very
busy. |
After
the first few weeks, Michael ‘Lofty’ Lofts was soon
signed up to the Admin team of LMCOC and introduced a whole
new club side to the forum, the name was decided on, then a
logo and then everything else followed, including a large member
base. Marky T and Stretch took care of the Forum side, whilst
Lofty began to set up the club, with membership forms, contacting
local companies to get involved, clothing and what was soon
to be our first trip away to a show. |
As
the club became bigger, we gained the talents of Mr Kris Aston,
along with Lofty they started to design leaflets, promo material
and the club really started to take form. |
In
August 2005 as planning for our first major trip away was well
underway, our way of life was threatened by the council and
police trying to issue several members of the club with ASBO’s
for having there cars parked up, switched off and gathered with
friends. With this we went to the press and made front-page
news on Tuesday 30th August Lincolnshire Echo. After the fantastic
feedback we got from the press, we carried on with our trip
to Weston-Super-Mare for what was the season’s biggest
modified car show event, Weston Wheels. This was our first trip
away as a club and the one everyone will always remember, what
away to finish our first year. |
As
the 2006 season approached, Marky T and Stretch left LMCOC to
follow other projects and to open a Jap orientated club. This
leaving Lofty and Kris running LMCOC, the season sore us take
the club to Modified Nationals at Rockingham, another classic
weekend away and what we didn’t know at the time, it was
the last time we would appear as LMCOC. |
The
season came to an end and many things were changing in the car
scene, after a dispute by the owners of LMCOC, a few members
decided to brake away and form a more performance based car
club, leaving LMCOC ripped in half. With this, a new breed of
car club was formed, with the help of James ‘Ralphy’
Ralph coming on board as our Forum Manager and a new Staff Team,
LMCOC went through a drastically needed re-vamp, with a change
of full ownership to Lofty, a new Forum and a new name. |
UK
Modified Ridez (UKMR) was born, along with sponsors, a new home,
a fresh new look with clothing, the forum, stickers and much
more. Since then we have been to numerous car shows around the
UK, picked up awards for both members cars and the club, been
featured in Magazines, had members cars featured, you can find
us all over the web, on you tube and regular appearances at
cruises throughout the year. |
In
March 2008, with a little bit of money in the club funds, we
decided to take the step into buying our own forum, given Ralphy
a much wider range and choice of customisation and better control
of the internet side of the club, making it a better experience
for forum users. |
Finally
in August 2008, we finally got round to holding Lincoln’s
first ever major cruise event and we did it in style, booking
out the entire Pride of Lincoln, with our Show Cars on show
in the garden and on the patio front, the sponsors as guests,
Vibe’s demo Astra VXR, bouncy castle and much more. Featured
in Max Power’s November issue, with a 2 page spread and
a glowing write up, with Max Power stating “UK Modified
Ridez have shown everyone the future of cruising”. |
